چکیده

In a type II superconductor the gap variation in the core of a vortex line induces a local charge modulation. Accounting for metallic screening, we determine the line charge of individual vortices and calculate the electric field distribution in the half space above a field penetrated superconductor. The resulting field is that of an atomic size dipole d ∼ eaBẑ, aB = h̄/me is the Bohr radius, acting on a force microscope in the pico to femto Newton range. Typeset using REVTEX

The Effects of Magnetic Field in Lattice Periodic Hamiltonians and Vortices in Type Ii Superconductors

The motivation for this project was it to serve as a starting point to study vortices in Iron based superconductors. Thus, this project had two main goals. First, two understand the effects of the magnetic field in the sense that the presence of the vector potential in the Hamiltonian, breaks translational symmetry. Then it is crucial to understand it to still take advantage of the symmetries an...

Quantized vortices in BEC and superconductors

Quantized vortices is a well-know signature of superfluidity. They have been studied extensively in superfluid Helium, type-II superconductors, Bose Einstein condensates and more recently in Fermi gas. We will discuss some mathematical analysis and numerical simulations of the quantized vortex nucleations in superconductors and Bose-Einstein condensates and discuss their connections and similar...

A Hierarchy of Models for Type-II Superconductors

A hierarchy of models for type-II superconductors is presented. Through appropriate asymptotic limits we pass from the mesoscopic Ginzburg-Landau model to the London model with isolated superconducting vortices as line singularities, to vortex-density models, and finally to macroscopic critical-state models.

Field-induced quasiparticle excitations in novel type II superconductors

We show that the field dependence of the magnetic penetration depth (λ), for which muon spin rotation (μSR) is an excellent microscopic probe, provides useful information on the degree of anisotropy for the superconducting order parameter. In type II superconductors associated with anisotropic order parameters, λ is sensitive to the quasiparticle excitation induced by the Doppler shift due to a...
